My name is Ashlie and I’m the lady behind Simple Girl.  I live in a city outside of Boston where I am a first grade teacher, wife, and mama.  We live in a little hobbit house that we are always working on (/confusedly daubing with paint) and have an enormous cat named Penguin, who will always be our first baby.  I love to drink coffee, read other people’s blogs, and elaborately plan my next life (as in, phase of my life.  Not reincarnation life.  I’m not trying to figure that out).  I have a giant crush on Ron Weasley (book, not movie) and will always prefer children’s literature to something more age-appropriate.  I have an inner punk rock child trying to claw her way out.  She wants pink hair and more tattoos.  I try to satisfy her with side bangs and second-hole ear piercing.  We’ll see.

I’ve been blogging under the name Simple Girl since 2008, but I always had livejournals throughout high school and college.  Basically, I’ve been sharing my innermost thoughts with the entire internet for most of recent memory.  My most current blog design is  the WordPress theme Reddle, which I’ve customized with a free background from Tinysea and free buttons from Amy at Vanagon Champion.  I commissioned Jess from IROCKSOWHAT to design my header.  Thank you ladies for making it possible for my blog to look a little more like me!  Of course, every thought and opinion expressed in this blog is solely my own.  If I ever get a free product as a result of this blog (this has happened only once, don’t get excited) I will let you know.

Thank you for stopping by!  I hope you take the time to say hello! xo Ashlie

  2. Hi Ashlie! I just saw a comment you left on the renegade mothering blog and realized I recognized your photo! I tried contacting you once back in maybe 1999 because I had googled my own name and found you, and we’re both writers and had the same name. I’m super glad to see how well you’re doing!

    • Oh my goodness! How amazing! I’m sorry if I didn’t get back you in 1999- I was a silly teen and changed e-mails and contact info all the time. Thank you for reaching out again! I’m married now, but I was attached to Kauffman, so I legally changed it to my middle name so I could keep it, it’s too wonderful :) I hope you’re doing well, too!
